Singing songs for Santa Claus, boxes full of surprises and finally, opening the presents. This is how the children could enjoy Saint Nicholas’ Day at the housing estate of Ócsa. The students of the Tancsics Mihaly Dormitory and the volunteers of Malteser Youth organised the program together.
The Helping hands group of the dormitory has been organising their Santa Claus donation campaign for many years now. Each time they choose a group of children coming from difficult backgrounds, and they prepare presents for them. This year they collected the surprises for the children living at the housing estate of Ócsa.
Santa Claus arrives to the Malteser House at Ócsa. He is stuffed with pillows to have a big enough belly.
Just the right timing, the children are eagerly waiting for him.
Reindeers accompany the Santa Claus.
And the questioning starts already: have you been a good child this year?
All of them who answer honestly, get their present. Firstly, mandarin and chocolate appear from the package.
Meanwhile in the background… “Do you think Santa Claus really exists? Come on, leave me alone!”
The impatient little girls can even learn how to fly.
Slowly, it’s time for the personal presents.
And the packages soon find their new owners. The donation campaign started in the middle of November. The students living in the dormitory worked continuously on collecting and wrapping the presents.
Huge packages arrive. One of the biggest challange was to collect the enormous shoe boxes: the youngsters split to two groups and walked all over one of the shopping malls at Budapest to find enough boxes for the 35 packages.
These double boxes are for sisters and brothers.
And the first smiles appear…
… on the faces of the little kids.
In one of the other rooms the trading already starts between the girls.
“These earrings are too big for me, you can have it!”
And it turns out that it is a nice feeling to share.
Dress rehearsal on!
The smallest ones also get their surprises.
And the siblings are happy together. “This teddy bear is mine!”
Coming close to the end of the party, the boys prepare an evil plan against the Santa.
And the tickling war starts. The Santa Claus can’t bear it any more and he gets down to the floor.
… that ends well.
