This year Santa Claus has arrived to the housing estate of Ócsa in sneakers and a T-Shirt with Brazilian captions. His reindeers needed to be fed with salty nuts, in order to bring him back to his home in Lappland. The food had to be collected by children in a game with more stations.
Around 20 children gathered on the 6th December in the community house of the newly built village next to Ócsa. First, they have been separated into 4 groups, then the games could begin.
At each station there were two volunteers waiting for the groups to come and complete the tasks. They had to solve riddles, put together a puzzle with a Santa Claus picture on it. At another station they used their imagination to build up a „living sculpture” from themselves, forming a situation connected to St. Nikolaus and his reindeers. In a separate room, they could listen to the Biblical story of the Prodigal Son, and they were asked questions in connection with the meaning of the text, and also they could reveal how the story is connected to their lives.
After completing each task, points were collected in the form of nuts. Putting together the collection of the 4 groups, it turned out, they have enough food to give power for the reindeers for returning to their homeland.
In order to give presents to the parents as well, children could draw their own design of personal chocolate paper. After the artworks were ready, volunteers sticked them to bars of chocolate which they could bring back home to their parents as a surprise.
While the kids were drawing, our Santa Claus prepared to arrive to the room, carrying some sweets in his bag. Each of the children could come to the „old man” with a beard and tell about how well they have behaved during the last year. All of them could get their present of a chocolate and a mandarine – meaning either that they were all really good kids or the Santa Claus was way too generous.
